Nitric acid laboratory

Nitric acid laboratory
NET's new big venture

When we quietly marked 10 years in operation almost a year ago, a wish was expressed that in the coming year we should be able to set up a new modern nitric acid lab in order to honor ourselves and thank our large loyal customers over 10 years.

Plastic and liquid testing is a high priority area of expertise for NET. Nevertheless, it was chosen not to start with this when establishing the Test Center at Eik in 2011. This is because of the great wear and tear on the building and equipment, if it is not done properly. So we had to build brick by brick. The aim has been to do so with a very high focus on health, environment and safety.

Nitric acid is the very foundation stone for the industry in Telemark, so it was not with a light heart that we left this very thing to others.

Now we are almost at the finish line with step one: ready for start-up during January 2018.

Here we see the inside of the paw so far. The walls and ceiling are clad with acid-resistant panels in L316 steel. The floor is here fully reinforced and straightened, before it is to be covered with two layers of acid-resistant boards; whole and perforated.

Outside of a good layer of insulation, it becomes plain and simple, concrete. Here we shall think as little as possible about corrosion and maintenance.

We are looking forward to starting a new year after the Christmas holidays, with also a nitric acid plant in place at the Test Center at Eik.
